“List main materials, colours, textures and show landscaping”
“Perspectives with viewer at ground level (freehand or CAD) showing proposal in its neighborhood context”.
The UDP puts a huge emphasis on the experience of your building from street level. 3D renderings have a huge advantage over elevations because they show a real human view of your building. They also give an accurate sense of form, scale and materiality for the project. Your project can even be inserted into a photo of the site to show the building in its actual context.
3D renderings are quite simply the best way to convey your building to the UDP. They should also be part of a comprehensive Resource Consent Application, especially one where it is important to gain favour with the council.
Renderings can be used to influence council’s perception of the project just as they are for marketing. Unlike elevations, renderings can focus on the best parts of the building – the parts with the best architecture and where the most money is being spent. They can evoke positive feelings through the extra detail we add, particularly at street level. Features such as landscaping, street furniture, shop fronts, people and cars bring the building to life. The project can then be seen as an asset to the community. It really does come down to the old adage that “a picture tells a thousand words”.
